c:\program files.dll missing?

when i launch the basic 'benchmark only' tests in 720p i get a dialog box titled: "3DMark11Workload1.exe - System Error" with the message "The program can't start because C:\Program Files.DLL is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

my guess is there is never any such file called c:\program files.dll so something is broken.

This is an issue caused by Avast Antivirus heuristics triggering on a false positive and blocking 3DMark from accessing required application files. Please select "disable for 10 minutes" from Avast and then start benchmark. We have reported this issue to Avast - feel free to do so yourself as well (or perhaps consider another antivirus product)

I have the same problem with 3D Mark 11 (1.0.2). However, the disable Avast protect shield doesn't work.

I do not know if something has changed in Avast but I do know that this error does not come up if Avast is not in the system. I'm not familiar with the options it gives for temporary disabling - I just know that some people have reportedly solved the issue by disabling Avast temporarily and that nobody has reported the issue with systems that do not have Avast installed.

3DMark doesn't do anything unusual as far as DLL files and the whole Program Files directory goes, so this is purely a problem with Avast. We've told them about it months ago, they've ignored it.

Sorry, you have to ask about that game from the developer of the game. I have no idea about it.

Of course there isn't. The only guess I can give is that this is somehow related to Avast, but that's it.

Followed all suggestions provided here and I'm still getting this error: C:\Program Files.DLL is missing from your computer. I believe the problem relates to another issue, other than the file itself. I read in Microsoft support about another dll error (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/188213) that this kind of problem might happen due to an incorrect path pointing to the dll file (mentioned here here as well), so if that is the case, how do I know which 'path' calling to a dll is incorrect?

Do you have AVAST installed? If you do, I strongly suggest you try completely removing it and seeing if that solves it. I have heard that some people have seen a failure even with AVAST scanner turned off and only completely removing it sorted the issue.

(The KB article you refer to refers to Windows 98 and is not relevant and the second article you mention refers to openal32.dll)

Thanks, YES I do have AVAST so I'll try your suggestion and see if that helps.

Um, to what program does this refer? 3DMark 11 has nothing to do with "Battery TestDLL.dll"

Googling that name up brings up only a pile of Chinese forums so I would venture a guess that your operating system is messed up, possibly by virus/malware. Most likely whatever was causing you issues is still causing the issue after reformat.

Since I don't think this in any way relates to Futuremark products, I unfortunately can't help you any further.
